LONDON SINGERS STUDIO

We have both been teaching singing for nearly 15 years, alongside sustaining international operatic careers.

Together we founded London Singers Studio to offer our private teaching and coaching. We also run residential courses and group classes in the UK and abroad to support this work.

Our clients include major operatic artists, principals from the West End, film/TV actors, and recording industry professionals. We also work with professional voice users undergoing vocal rehabilitation. John is currently a professor of classical singing at the Royal Academy of Music and both Sam and John teach on the musical theatre degree course at ArtsEd.

Regardless of genre, the aim is beautiful, healthy singing and for clients to stand out rather than blend in…

We use 21st century evidence-based information to create clear, rigorous, bespoke vocal development programmes for each singer. Much of our work is collaborative and takes place in an open-studio environment, so clients often receive input from multiple sources without the confusion of conflicting approaches.

John and Sam are talented, 21st century evidence-based, knowledgeable voice teachers.
They are also excellent singers and fine musicians.

I am delighted to recommend them.
— Professor Janice Chapman, world-renowned vocal pedagogue and author, FGS, OAM

John Lattimore

John read Music at Cambridge and then trained at the Royal Academy of Music. Earlier in life he was a first-study violinist and pianist at Junior Guildhall. It was Professor Janice Chapman who taught him how to sing and how to teach singing.

As an operatic countertenor John has enjoyed an international career, highlights of which include Purcell at Theater Bremen, understudying new work by John Adams at English National Opera, and concerts of Monteverdi at the Barbican and in Venice and Bach with the RTÉ in Dublin. He also workshopped new compositions at the Royal Opera House, sang at the Royal Wedding in 2011, and has appeared in television adverts and on film soundtracks.

John is a professor of classical singing at the Royal Academy of Music and teaches on the BA Musical Theatre programme at ArtsEd.

Sam read English at Cambridge and studied on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music. He continued his studies privately with Professor Janice Chapman.

His performance credits range from Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors and backing vocals for Sting on tour, to Ravel with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Lieder at Wigmore Hall.
